The Developer Says...

There is a Fox in the ballroom! Or so the whispers from the other ballroom dancers suggest. Can the Flock trap the Fox before it is too late? Or will the Fox systematically eat all the other dancers before they even realize he is in their midst?

❤ Gameplay Overview

The gameplay involves two opposing sides - the Fox and the Flock. As the Fox, you must systematically capture and "eat" all the members of the Flock. As the Flock, your goal is to either trap the Fox so it cannot move or have a sufficient number of Flock members reach the bottom 3x3 area of the 9x9 grid-based board.

❤ Game Modes

The game offers two main gameplay modes: Story Mode, where you take turns controlling both the Fox and the Flock throughout a short narrative campaign with voice-acted poetry between each level, and Quick Game, which allows you to set up a standalone game with various customization options.

❤ Gameplay Mechanics

Each turn, you can move one of your pieces to an adjacent empty space or "jump" over an opponent's piece to capture it. As the Fox, you must strategically move and jump to capture as many Flock members as possible. As the Flock, you must carefully position your pieces to block the Fox's movements and attempt to get 9 or more Flock members to the bottom of the board to win. The gameplay is described as a balance between the simple mechanics of checkers and the more complex strategy of games like Go.

❤ Player Reviews

Reviewers praise the game's well-executed implementation of the classic "Fox and Geese" concept. They highlight the satisfying gameplay loop, the thematic presentation, and the overall value proposition. Positive points include the beautiful, hand-drawn art style, the engaging narrative framing and narration delivered in rhyming verse, the satisfying back-and-forth strategy, and the game's accessibility. While the short length and lack of online multiplayer are occasionally noted as downsides, the overall consensus is that this is a quality, bite-sized strategy experience well worth the investment, especially for fans of classic board game concepts.
