Dungeon Warfare is a challenging tower defense strategy game where you become a dungeon lord to defend your dungeons with deadliest of traps and insidious contraptions against greedy adventurers and wanna-be heroes.
Players take on the role of a Dungeon Lord, tasked with defending their domain against waves of greedy adventurers using an array of deadly traps and contraptions. Unlike traditional tower defense games, the gameplay revolves around strategically placing and upgrading over 20 unique trap types, each with their own special abilities and upgrade paths.
The trap mechanics are the core focus, with players needing to consider the weight and movement characteristics of different enemy types. Lighter enemies can be more easily displaced by knockback traps, while heavier foes require brute force to impede their progress. Effectively combining traps to create deadly "kill zones" is crucial to success.
To further customize the challenge, players can activate various "runes" that modify enemy attributes like health and speed in exchange for greater rewards. This rune system provides tremendous replayability, as each level can be tackled with different handicaps and strategies.
Progression is handled through an RPG-like system, where players earn experience and gems from completing levels. These resources can then be used to permanently upgrade traps, spells, and other useful capabilities, encouraging repeated playthroughs and experimentation. Beyond the main campaign, the game also includes a level editor, allowing players to create and share their own custom dungeon challenges with the community. This user-generated content further extends the title's longevity.
