Pixel Puzzles 2: Birds is a traditional style jigsaw puzzle game, with crabs scurrying around so WATCH YOUR FINGERS!!!
Players must reconstruct 25 different jigsaw puzzles featuring photographs of various bird species. The puzzles range from 60 to 350 pieces, providing a good variety of challenge levels.
To solve the puzzles, players drag and drop floating puzzle pieces onto the board. The pieces feature uniquely shaped edges, such as bird beaks and fish, adding an extra layer of difficulty compared to traditional square-edged pieces. Players can also rotate the pieces in 90-degree increments by right-clicking, further complicating the task of properly placing them.
An interesting mechanic introduces small crabs that randomly spawn underneath the puzzle pieces. Players can capture these crabs by dragging them into a net on the side of the screen. Collecting a certain number of crabs unlocks special "power-up" abilities, including revealing the full puzzle image, automatically rotating a held piece, and displaying the precise placement for a piece.
The game allows players to customize their experience by changing the background color of the puzzle board and toggling the rotation mechanic on or off. An autosave function also lets players easily resume their progress.
As players complete puzzles, they unlock access to new, more difficult challenges in a branching progression system. However, once all 25 puzzles have been solved, the game offers limited replayability, as the puzzles themselves do not change or randomize.
