"Whoa, watch out!" That was close, didn't you know Dokimon are dangerous!?ーStep into Xelos region, where you'll set off on an adventure to uncover the mystery behind your missing childhood friend.
The turn-based combat system draws heavily from classic Pokémon titles on the Game Boy Color. Players take control of an adventurer exploring the Xelos region, capturing a party of unique "Dokimon" creatures to battle alongside them. The 2D, pixel art visuals evoke a strong sense of nostalgia for those retro RPGs.
Collecting and customizing the over 140 original Dokimon designs is a core focus. Each creature has its own base stats, types, and movepools that players can freely rearrange and optimize. Rare variant Dokimon with 7 unique color palettes, including an incredibly rare one, provide an added layer of collection incentive. Players can strategically allocate "Affinity Points" to customize their Dokimon's stats, similar to Pokémon's Effort Values (EVs), allowing for tailoring each creature's capabilities to the player's preferred playstyle.
Battles play out in a traditional turn-based format, with type matchups and stat allocations impacting the effectiveness of attacks. Progressing through the game's 15+ explorable towns and areas uncovers the mystery surrounding the protagonist's missing childhood friend. Along the way, players will encounter and battle other Dokimon trainers, allowing them to grind levels and resources.
The experience is enhanced by numerous quality-of-life features, such as: the ability to freely change a Dokimon's moveset from the menu, an optional "battle helper" providing tips and tools, a quest log to track objectives, a choice between 8-bit or piano-based soundtracks, 20+ retro color palettes to customize the visual style, and full controller support and Steam Deck compatibility. These modernizations streamline the classic monster-taming formula, making it accessible for newcomers and veterans alike.
