The game starts with 6 preset 4x4 puzzles, considered the easiest level. It then challenges players with 9 medium-difficulty 6x6 puzzles, followed by 12 standard 9x9 puzzles. Additionally, the game includes 4 extra 6x6 puzzles and 8 extra 9x9 puzzles for those seeking an even greater challenge.

To place cats on the grid, players simply left-click on a square to bring up a menu of available cat icons, then click again to select the desired cat. Right-clicking allows for "penciling in" cats as a means of trial-and-error, and players can right-click on a square to clear it.

If players get stuck, the game provides a progressive hint system. Initially, they have access to a single "Scratching Pole" hint, followed by "Treats" (2 hints) and "Toys" (3 hints) as they complete more puzzles. These hints guide players towards the correct solution.
