As the new "Master" of the eponymous machine, you must sow fear and expand your influence across the game's map. To do this, you'll dispatch your controllable "Agents" to harvest various resources, including Fear (referred to as "Oleum"), Blood, Politics, and more.

Managing your limited number of Agents is crucial, as you must carefully prioritize where to send them and what tasks to assign. This strategic planning and decision-making is at the heart of the gameplay loop. You'll need to balance expanding your influence, upgrading your deployed "Legends" (which can range from stories about cryptids to conspiracy theories), and responding to unexpected events.

❤ Deploying Legends and Defending Territories

As you deploy Legends to specific regions, your influence in that area grows, making the Legends more powerful and effective at instilling fear among the populace. However, your efforts are constantly challenged by rival factions seeking to undo the machine's influence. You must devise strategies to defend your Legends and territories, utilizing your resources and Agents effectively.

The gameplay is tightly integrated with the game's pulp horror-inspired narrative. As you progress through the campaigns, you'll unlock new comic book-style story sequences that reveal more about the characters, the history of the machine, and the consequences of your actions.
