The new "Dragon Engine" powers a more refined and fluid combat system compared to previous entries. Players can now unleash devastating 30-hit combos and brutally powerful "Heat Actions" against enemies. Strikes feel impactful, with Kiryu's punches and kicks resonating with a satisfying weight. The new "Extreme Heat Mode" allows players to enter a powered-up state, enabling hard-hitting combos that deal massive damage. However, the combat system's ragdoll physics and collision detection can sometimes feel clunky, as attacks don't always connect as expected. The streamlined single fighting style also provides less variety than the multiple styles featured in past titles.

❤ Seamless Exploration and Interactivity

The Dragon Engine enables a more seamless open world experience, allowing players to freely explore the dense environments of Kamurocho and Onomichi without loading screens. Transitioning between indoor and outdoor locations happens smoothly. The world feels more alive, with crowds of NPCs realistically bumping into the player as they wander the streets. Players can now freely enter and interact with many of the businesses and storefronts, such as the SEGA arcade, creating a greater sense of immersion.

Yakuza 6 features a diverse array of polished and enjoyable minigames and side activities. Returning favorites like karaoke, batting cages, and darts have improved mechanics, while new additions like the RIZAP Gym and a Cat Café provide fresh diversions. Completionists will find plenty of content to sink their time into outside of the main narrative.

Two notable new gameplay features are the Clan Creator and the Spearfishing minigame. The Clan Creator allows players to build their own group of fighters to engage in large-scale battles, adding an extra layer of strategy and customization. Spearfishing, on the other hand, is a unique arcade-style shooting gallery where players must harpoon various marine life, offering a refreshing change of pace from the hand-to-hand combat.
