SEGA’s critically-acclaimed entry that started a legend. Become Kazuma Kiryu, an up-and-coming yakuza who takes the fall for the murder of a crime boss, only to emerge from prison ten years later to a changed world. Remastered from the ground up, now in 4K and uncapped framerates on PC.
The game combines beat-'em-up combat with an open-world setting and a variety of minigames and side activities. Players follow the story of Kazuma Kiryu, who gets caught up in a conflict between rival Yakuza factions after a 10-year stint in prison.
Players can seamlessly transition between four distinct fighting styles - Brawler, Rush, Beast, and Dragon - each with unique move sets and advantages. The combat system allows chaining devastating combos to take down groups of enemies. Players can also pick up and wield environmental objects, from bicycles to traffic cones, as improvised weapons. Performing stylish attacks or taking significant damage fills a "Heat" meter, enabling powerful special moves.
Goro Majima, a former friend-turned-rival of the protagonist, will randomly appear and challenge players to impromptu battles throughout the city of Kamurocho. Defeating Majima in these encounters unlocks new combat abilities for the Dragon fighting style, encouraging exploration and repeated encounters. While the frequency of these battles can be annoying, they add an element of unpredictability and tension to the gameplay.
The game offers a wealth of optional side content and diversions, including batting cages, darts, bowling, karaoke, mahjong, and shogi. These minigames not only provide a break from the intense combat but also serve as opportunities to earn experience points and unlock new abilities.
