Pawarumi is a modern shoot’em up set in a retro futuristic sci-fi pre-Columbian universe. You’ll take control of the almighty ship Chukaru and its three unique weapons! Shoot wisely to either do double damage, heal yourself or charge your Super Attack!
Players have access to three different weapon types (blue, green, and red), each of which has a different effect when used against enemies of the same or different colors. Using the same-colored weapon on an enemy will "Boost" the player, rapidly recharging their shield. Using the weapon that is effective against an enemy's color (e.g. blue vs green) will "Crush" the enemy, dealing extra damage. Using the weapon that is weak against an enemy's color (e.g. red vs green) will "Drain" the player's super attack meter, allowing them to use their powerful screen-clearing super attack more frequently. This creates a dynamic, tactical system where players must constantly assess the situation and switch between their three weapons to maximize their offensive power, defensive capabilities, and super attack charge. Mastering this "rock-paper-scissors" mechanic is key to success.
The game's scoring system rewards players for skillful weapon management, allowing them to build up high-scoring chains and combos by consistently using the right weapon against the right enemies. This adds another layer of depth and strategy to the gameplay, as players must balance the need to charge their super attack or shield with the desire to achieve high scores. The game's three difficulty levels - Easy, Normal, and Hard - also provide significant replay value, as each difficulty has a unique story ending. Experienced players can challenge themselves on the higher difficulties, while newcomers can start on Easy to learn the mechanics.
The game features five unique levels set in a visually striking "pre-Columbian inspired sci-fi universe", each with its own distinct theme and gameplay challenges. The levels feature a mix of traditional shoot 'em up gameplay, mid-bosses, and cinematic boss encounters that test players' mastery of the Trinity Mechanic. As players progress through the game, the levels become increasingly complex, introducing new enemy types and patterns that require quick adaptation and precise play. This sense of challenge and progression helps to keep the gameplay engaging and rewarding, even for experienced shoot 'em up fans.
