❤ Gameplay Mechanics

You control the protagonist Komaru Naegi, who is equipped with a "Hacking Gun" that can fire different types of "Truth Bullets". These Truth Bullets have a variety of effects - Break Bullets deal damage, Paralyze Bullets temporarily stun enemies, Dance Bullets force enemies to dance, Knock Back Bullets push enemies away, and Link Bullets allow you to temporarily take control of an enemy. You must strategically choose the right Truth Bullet type to take down the various Monokuma enemy types you encounter. This adds a puzzle-solving element to the combat, as you must consider which bullet types will be most effective against specific foes. In addition to Komaru, you can also temporarily switch to the character Genocide Jack (Toko Fukawa's alter-ego). Genocide Jack wields a pair of scissors and has a distinct melee-focused combat style compared to Komaru's ranged Hacking Gun. Interspersed throughout the levels are "Monokuma Kids" who will challenge you to puzzle-solving challenges. These require strategic use of the different Truth Bullet types to eliminate all Monokumas in the room. Successfully completing these challenges is required to progress in the story. The gameplay blends third-person shooting mechanics with puzzle-solving elements, providing a fresh take on the traditional formula. While not as tight or refined as a dedicated shooter, the unique combination of combat and puzzle-solving makes for an engaging and memorable experience for series fans.
