Players can extensively customize each party member by equipping them with a variety of weapons, armor, and accessories. The game's "ARCUS" system allows for deep customization of characters' combat arts, crafts, and orbment slots, providing a high degree of build creativity and optimization.
An integral part of the gameplay is the social systems and relationships between the members of Class VII. Players can spend free time with their classmates, participate in school activities, and deepen their bonds through the "Bonding Points" system. Increasing affinity with party members unlocks special combat benefits, such as combo attacks and healing, incentivizing players to invest in developing these relationships.
The game features expansive environments for players to freely navigate, with various towns, villages, and other locales to explore. Interacting with NPCs, uncovering optional side quests, and engaging in activities like fishing and cooking provide tangential rewards and character interactions. The world is deeply detailed, with extensive lore and background information available through books, documents, and conversations. Discovering these narrative elements enhances the overall sense of immersion and worldbuilding.
The PC version includes several quality-of-life improvements, such as an adjustable turbo mode to speed up exploration and combat, the ability to skip battle animations, and native support for high resolutions and framerates. These enhancements make the experience more accessible and streamlined for players, while preserving the core turn-based combat and social systems.
