Build and design your own fleets and stand opposed to the Particulate in this physics/strategy/RTS/fleet hybrid. Build partially destructible and self repairing ships that interact with enemies less controlled by some scripted logic and more driven by a real time massive physics particle simulation.
Rather than relying on scripted behaviors, the Particulate enemies react dynamically based on a real-time physics simulation. This creates an adaptive, unpredictable foe that players must strategize against, rather than simply overwhelming with superior numbers. The Particulate's ability to spread across the terrain adds an extra layer of tactical complexity.
Players can design and customize their own spaceships using a modular editor. This allows for a variety of specialized ship types, each with unique weapons and capabilities. Managing this customized fleet is crucial, as players must balance aggressive maneuvers to destroy Particulate emitters with defensive positioning to protect their energy infrastructure.
The spaceship combat emphasizes careful positioning and timing. Ships have limited energy reserves and must periodically return to recharge at energy collection points. This encourages tactical retreats, flanking movements, and coordinated strikes rather than simple zerg-rushing tactics.
Players can deploy "Omni" reactor structures to capture and defend land areas, turning them into strategic chokepoints. Missions often task the player with holding specific terrain locations or destroying key Particulate structures, adding an objective-based layer to the gameplay.
While the campaign provides a linear progression of new ship types and mechanics, the game offers substantial replayability. Players can create and share their own custom maps and ships, expanding the possibilities for unique challenges and playstyles. The random map generator also adds an element of unpredictability to each playthrough.
