Blue Estate is a black-humoured and corrosive rail shooter, adapted from the critically acclaimed and Eisner Award nominated graphic novel, Blue Estate by Viktor Kalvachev!
Players can use a variety of firearms, including a starting pistol with unlimited ammo, as well as secondary weapons like shotguns and assault rifles that require reloading. Accurate and efficient shooting is crucial, as landing headshots and combos earns the player higher scores. The game features a responsive and intuitive aiming system, allowing players to quickly target and eliminate threats. Players can choose to turn off the automatic aim assist for a more precise mouse-based aiming experience.
In addition to shooting, the game incorporates quick-time events (QTEs) that require players to perform specific actions, such as swiping the mouse in a certain direction or pressing a button in response to on-screen prompts. These QTEs are used for actions like opening doors, executing melee attacks, and dodging enemy attacks. Successful QTE completion grants the player bonuses and prevents damage.
The game features a sophisticated scoring system that rewards players for skilled shooting, including headshots, combos, and other challenges. The game encourages replayability, as players can attempt to achieve higher scores and unlock additional content, such as achievements and an arcade mode. The arcade mode removes the story elements and focuses solely on the high-score chasing experience, allowing players to compete for the best times and scores on each level.
The game supports local co-op multiplayer, allowing a second player to join the action with a gamepad. In co-op, players share the screen and must work together to take down enemies, with their shots being divided between the two players. The co-op mode adds an additional layer of challenge, as players must coordinate their aiming and actions to maximize their efficiency and score.
The game supports a variety of input methods, including keyboard and mouse, Xbox controllers, and even the Leap Motion controller. This flexibility allows players to choose the control scheme that best suits their preferences and playstyle.
