The world's first high-speed internal organ liberation simulator is back in full 3D! The slaughter is bloodier, the body parts fly further, and the destruction is heavier. Crash and burn through the 3D rendered crowds with the pedal to the metal.
The objective in Carmageddon 2 can be completed in one of three ways: finishing all the laps of the race, wrecking all opponent vehicles, or killing all the pedestrians in the level. This freedom to approach each race however the player chooses is a major appeal of the game.
Players can violently destroy opponent vehicles in a variety of ways. The game's advanced physics engine allows for realistic car deformation, with cars able to split in half or have parts knocked off during collisions. Players can strategically target specific components of an opponent's car to disable it. This vehicle-focused gameplay provides a deeply satisfying "car combat" experience.
In addition to competing against other drivers, the game also encourages players to mow down the hordes of pedestrians scattered throughout each level. Killing pedestrians, which range from normal civilians to animals, awards points and can extend the time limit. The gory, physics-based pedestrian deaths add an over-the-top, comedic element to the gameplay.
Players can collect a variety of power-ups throughout the levels, including offensive abilities like the "Electro Bastard Ray" and more utility-focused ones like the "Kangaroo Jump." Players can also use in-game credits earned from their actions to upgrade their car's armor, power, and offense stats, further customizing their playstyle.
The open-ended level design encourages exploration, with hidden areas, shortcuts, and bonus objectives to discover. Completing these challenges unlocks new vehicles and upgrades, adding an element of replayability and reward for thorough play.
