Wildly open-ended adventure in a unique fantasy world. Use battle or diplomacy and trickery to change the world, served by an army of custom-made mutant monsters. Almost 90 zones to explore and 50+ hours of gameplay. Enormous range of abilities, factions, quests, and paths to victory.
The player can choose from three distinct character classes - Shaper, Guardian, and Agent - each with their own unique playstyles and abilities. Regardless of class, a core mechanic is the ability to "shape" and control a variety of unique, powerful creatures to aid the player in combat and exploration.
Combat is turn-based, with the player and their party of creatures taking turns to attack enemies. Shapers excel at ranged combat and magic, but are more fragile in close quarters. Guardians are heavily-armored melee combatants who can shape specialized combat-focused creatures and utilize a "Weapon Shaping" system that grants them unique weapon-based abilities. Agents are stealthy, versatile characters who can use both combat and non-combat approaches, such as lock-picking and diplomacy. The creature shaping system offers a high degree of customization, allowing players to imbue their creatures with a wide array of offensive and defensive abilities.
The game features a highly non-linear world with numerous zones to explore. Players are often presented with multiple paths forward and must make meaningful choices that can significantly impact the story and the game's outcome. This encourages experimentation, as players can approach many situations in different ways using their class abilities, creature shaping, and other skills.
The combination of class choices, creature shaping, and the game's many narrative branching points result in a high degree of replayability. Players can tailor their playstyle to suit their preferences, and experience vastly different storylines and outcomes based on the choices they make, further adding to the game's depth and longevity.
