Create, automate and defend an impenetrable base. Assemble and command a Bot army to combat an entire Piratebot invasion. Build, program and battle your way through five different zones.
Players can create "Workerbots" to handle resource gathering, crafting, and other production-related activities. These bots are programmable using a visual programming interface, allowing players to create and customize complex automated workflows. One key improvement is the ability to link bot programs to a centralized database, making it easier to update and maintain automation scripts across multiple bots.
Players must construct defensive structures like walls, towers, and traps to repel enemy "Piratebot" raids. They can also create specialized "Defencebots" trained in combat to actively engage and defeat Piratebot incursions. Managing the balance between production and defense is a core challenge, as players must ensure their base is fortified while also maintaining efficient resource gathering and manufacturing.
Players progress by defeating Piratebot outposts, which not only provides a research currency ("8-bit") but also directly unlocks specific new blueprints. The research system, while more streamlined than the original, still provides a sense of progression and unlocking new automation capabilities.
The game introduces a combat-focused element, requiring players to carefully program their Defencebots to effectively engage and defeat the Piratebots. This combat system, while not overly complex, adds an additional layer of strategy and challenge to the gameplay loop of automating production and defending against raids.
The game features several quality of life improvements, including the ability to link bot programs to a centralized database, faster-acting bots, and the removal of the need to constantly recharge bot batteries. These changes help streamline the overall experience and reduce some of the more tedious micromanagement aspects, allowing players to focus more on high-level automation and base management.
