Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge reunites Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael as they kick shell in a beautifully realized beat ’em up.
The game features a roster of seven playable characters - the four Turtles, as well as April O'Neil, Splinter, and Casey Jones. Each character has their own unique fighting styles and abilities. Players must battle through hordes of Foot Clan enemies and take down iconic TMNT villains across a variety of levels inspired by the beloved 1987 cartoon series.
The combat is fast-paced and satisfying, emphasizing chained combos and special attacks. Players can perform a variety of strikes, throws, and aerial maneuvers to devastate groups of enemies. A new dodge mechanic allows for more tactical positioning and attack avoidance. Each character has a special "Ninja Power" move that can be charged up and unleashed for heavy damage. The combat system encourages cooperative play, with moves like the double-slam and character launcher enabling teammates to set up devastating combos.
As players progress, their selected character will level up, unlocking new attacks and increasing their overall power. This character-specific progression system adds a sense of development and investment, allowing players to tailor their playstyle. The game also features a variety of collectibles, challenges, and side objectives that provide additional reasons to revisit levels and experiment with different characters.
The game's cooperative multiplayer, supporting up to six players locally or online, is a standout feature. The ability to revive downed teammates and share power-ups adds an encouraged sense of teamwork and strategy to the experience. The levels and enemy encounters are designed with cooperative play in mind, creating a truly tailored experience for groups of friends.
The game caters to players of all skill levels, offering a range of difficulty settings. The "Chill" and "Okay" difficulties provide a more accessible experience for newcomers, while the "Gnarly" and "Radical" settings offer a greater challenge for seasoned players. This flexible approach ensures that everyone can enjoy the core beat 'em up action, whether playing solo or with friends.
