❤ Combat Mechanics

The turn-based tactical combat system lets players command a crew of children operating the various weapon systems of a large tank. Each child specializes in a specific weapon type, such as machine guns, grenade launchers, or cannons. Players must strategically position these characters in the tank's three gun turrets to exploit the weapon triangle and delay or disable enemy targets. The core combat mechanic revolves around "turn delay". Attacking an enemy with the appropriate weapon type will delay that enemy's turn, allowing players to potentially chain multiple attacks and control the flow of battle. This encourages experimenting with different character combinations to find the optimal setup for each encounter. In addition, each child has a unique "Hero Mode" special ability that provides powerful buffs or effects when activated once per battle, further incentivizing players to rotate through their full roster.

❤ Resource Management

Between missions, players can spend limited action points on activities like upgrading the tank, building relationships between characters, and preparing supplies. Balancing these investments is crucial, as investing in tank upgrades may provide an edge in combat but at the expense of developing character bonds or stocking up on consumables.

❤ Character Growth and Relationships

The child characters can form bonds with each other during intermissions, unlocking special "Link Attacks" and passive stat bonuses. This social system encourages players to engage with the cast on a personal level, fostering a deeper connection to the characters and their struggles. The emotional weight is amplified by the ability to sacrifice one of these beloved children to the tank's devastating "Soul Cannon" weapon.

❤ Difficulty and Replayability

Players can choose between multiple difficulty paths during each chapter, with the "Dangerous" routes presenting higher risk but greater reward. The game's New Game+ mode also unlocks additional content and features, allowing players to delve deeper into the lore and unlock new upgrades for the tank. Combined with the dynamic combat system, this ensures the game remains engaging throughout multiple playthroughs.
