The Mass Effect™ Legendary Edition includes single-player base content and over 40 DLC from the highly acclaimed Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 games, including promo weapons, armors, and packs — remastered and optimized for 4K Ultra HD.
The action role-playing experience begins with a traditional RPG focus on Mass Effect (2007). Players choose from diverse combat classes, each with unique abilities and playstyles. While the cover-based combat system lacks refinement, the game excels at exploration. Piloting the Mako vehicle, players freely roam planets, uncover new locations, and complete side quests. Though planetary exploration can feel repetitive, it effectively conveys the game's sense of scale.
Mass Effect 2 (2010) significantly enhances the gameplay, prioritizing third-person shooter mechanics. The cover system tightens up, weapons feel more responsive, and enemies demonstrate greater AI sophistication. Squad management also becomes pivotal, as players customize teammates' skill trees and leverage their unique abilities in combat.
The trilogy's conclusion, Mass Effect 3 (2012), further refines the combat system. Controls feel smoother, abilities more responsive, and mobility/positioning more critical. The game introduces light RPG elements, allowing players to customize Shepard's appearance and skills. Mass Effect 3 also incorporates a cooperative multiplayer mode, which, while not included in the Legendary Edition, was a well-received addition to the overall experience.
The Legendary Edition brings notable improvements across all three games. These include enhanced combat and weapon balancing (especially in the first entry), smoother controls and camera behavior, streamlined user interface, and support for higher resolutions, framerates, and modern display technologies. Accessibility options and other quality-of-life enhancements further improve the cohesion and responsiveness of the gameplay.
