The spiritual successor to Freelancer with a Lovecraftian, sandbox RPG twist. Explore a vast handmade universe with Day 1 mod support and a planned PvP/co-op multiplayer on the Early Access roadmap. You're going to need a bigger ship.
The game controls and handles very similarly to the beloved 2003 title Freelancer, providing a comfortable familiarity for fans of that game. Players can nimbly maneuver their ships through space combat, quickly dodging and weaving between enemy fire. The "arcade" style flight model emphasizes agility over realism, in contrast to the more simulation-focused control schemes found in some other space games.
In addition to the main narrative campaign, the game offers a wide variety of side activities and missions for players to undertake. These range from straightforward cargo deliveries and mining operations to more complex tasks, such as hunting down dangerous space monsters or exploring the secrets of derelict wrecks. This diversity of content allows players to assume different roles, whether they wish to be a merchant, pirate, explorer, or something else entirely.
A key draw of the experience is the game's Lovecraftian-inspired exploration. As pilots traverse the open-world galaxy, they'll stumble upon strange phenomena - wormholes, mysterious space storms, and otherworldly creatures. These unsettling discoveries add an atmosphere of cosmic horror, heightening the sense of the unknown and the unnatural that permeates the game world.
While the game features extensive customization and progression systems for outfitting one's ship, the developers have struck a balance between complexity and accessibility. Upgrading and enhancing one's vessel does not become an overly burdensome task, allowing players to maintain a focus on the freeform exploration and action-oriented gameplay.
