A lonely kid desperately tries to escape his dark world.
Players must precisely time jumps, maneuver the child through obstacles, and switch between multiple lanes to progress through fast-paced, reflex-based platforming sequences. These sections test the player's dexterity and coordination as they try to synchronize their movements with the rhythmic soundtrack.
Interspersed between the platforming sections are puzzle-solving challenges. These include tasks like connecting wires, drawing paths, or activating switches to open gates and advance. While not overly complex, these puzzles still require players to carefully analyze the situation and apply problem-solving skills.
Players can freely navigate certain sections to search for hidden collectibles. These come in the form of blue "hope" orbs and red "depression" orbs. Collecting the blue orbs provides a sense of progress, while the red orbs represent the protagonist's hardships. Gathering these orbs contributes to the player's overall score and unlocking achievements.
The controls are relatively simple, relying primarily on movement and jumping commands, allowing players of various skill levels to engage with the game. However, the precise timing and coordination required during the platforming sections still present a satisfying challenge for players to master.
The gameplay is designed to evoke emotional responses from the player. The contrast between the child's struggles and the occasional moments of hope is reflected in the mechanics, such as the ability to "close your ears" to drown out the hostile voices in the environment, symbolizing the protagonist's attempt to cope with the harsh realities of his world.
