Just King is an action auto-battler with roguelike elements. Assemble your party to venture into different lands fighting fearsome kings and their deadly armies. Use your loot to hire and upgrade mighty heroes... or the bard.
In this action auto-battler, you control a king and assemble a party of up to 4 unique heroes. You must venture into different lands, facing off against fearsome regent kings and their deadly armies. The gameplay revolves around positioning and rotating your party members in real-time as you battle wave after wave of enemies.
One of the core gameplay loops is assembling an effective party composition from the 33 unique hero characters. Each hero belongs to one of 14 different classes, and having 2 or 4 heroes of the same class unlocks powerful class-specific abilities and synergies. Carefully considering how the heroes' abilities and roles work together is crucial to success.
As you progress through runs, you can upgrade your heroes from Tier 1 to Tier 3, unlocking more powerful abilities and stats. This creates a sense of growth and investment, as you work to continuously strengthen your party.
Defeating enemies rewards you with loot and items that can be equipped to your heroes, further boosting their capabilities. With over 100 different items to discover, there is significant depth in optimizing hero builds and min-maxing your party.
The game is divided into 5 distinct zones, each with unique environments, enemy types, and boss fights. Defeating the regent boss at the end of each zone is a significant challenge that tests your party composition and tactics.
The game offers a range of difficulty options, from an "easy" mode for more casual players, to a "Just King" mode that strips you of your party and forces you to rely solely on the king's abilities. This allows you to customize the challenge to your preference.
With randomized enemy spawns, loot, and hero selections, each run feels fresh and encourages experimentation with different party compositions and strategies. The variety of zones, modifiers, and challenges also contribute to the game's high replayability.
