Roguelike Romance JRPG. Customize your characters, take open-ended quests and write your own story in the town of Ecallia. A game with town building, dating and life sim elements, but also a randomly generated Dungeon with lots of companions and loot!
Players can choose from three base classes - Fighter, Scout, and Mage - and then unlock and switch between over 35 unique subclasses as they progress. This allows players to experiment and optimize their party composition by mixing and matching different abilities and specializations. The game features over 20 unique party members that players can recruit. Each companion has their own backstory, dialogue, and even hidden subclasses that players can uncover through specific actions and decisions. Carefully selecting and developing these companions is a core part of the gameplay experience.
Players must explore and conquer a randomly generated dungeon, with each floor containing a set of similar enemy types that become increasingly difficult to defeat. The dungeon's structure changes with each visit, adding an element of unpredictability and replayability. Players must also contend with the "Dungeon Curse" that spreads through the town, creating a sense of urgency and consequence to their dungeon runs. Progression is tied to acquiring loot and equipment, as well as unlocking new classes and skills for both the player character and their companions. This creates a satisfying loop of delving deeper, becoming more powerful, and then tackling even greater challenges.
In addition to the dungeon crawling, players can take on various jobs in the town, build and upgrade facilities, and interact with the diverse cast of NPCs. These interactions have real consequences, as players can choose to help or hinder certain characters, which can impact the town and its inhabitants in different ways. Cultivating relationships, particularly with the game's 8 marriageable characters, is a significant part of the gameplay. Players can go on dates, give gifts, and unlock unique character-specific quests and storylines. These relationships not only provide emotional and narrative satisfaction but can also have practical benefits, such as companions joining the player's party. The town's day-night cycle and the various routines of the NPCs further contribute to the sense of a living, breathing world that the player is a part of, rather than just a simple hub.
