Inkulinati is a turn-based strategy game straight from medieval manuscripts, where a rabbit’s bum can be deadlier than a dog's sword. Become a master of the Living Ink, build your own bestiary, defeat medieval superstars and collect perks to unleash hidden powers.
Players control an "Inkulinati" - a medieval scribe who can draw and command fantastical beasts to battle opponents on a parchment-like battlefield. The turn-based combat system requires carefully positioning units to take advantage of their unique abilities.
Different beasts have varying attack ranges, movement speeds, and special attacks. For example, swordsmen can only attack adjacent squares, while bowmen can attack from a distance. Skillfully deploying these units to overwhelm the opponent is crucial.
In addition to commanding beasts, players can use "Hand Actions" - special abilities with cooldowns, such as pushing units, creating obstacles, or exploding their own troops to create chaos. They also unlock "Talents" that provide additional passive benefits and ways to specialize their playstyle.
The battlefield contains environmental hazards that players must utilize or avoid, including exploding pots of beans, Hell's Maws that can instantly slay units, and clouds that provide blessings or curses. Mastering these elements is key to victory.
As the battle progresses, "Apocalyptic Events" can occur, introducing game-changing effects like fires, plagues, or the Memento Mori itself. These events force players to quickly adapt their strategies to the new challenges.
The "Boredom" mechanic increases the cost of overused units or tactics, encouraging players to diversify their strategies and experiment with new approaches. This system discourages relying on a single dominant tactic.
As players progress through the game's "Journey Mode," they unlock new beasts, Hand Actions, and Talents to add to their arsenal, keeping the gameplay fresh and incentivizing repeated playthroughs.
