You are the leader of an elite squad of Republic Commandos, your mission is to infiltrate, dominate, and ultimately, annihilate the enemy. Your squad will follow your orders and your lead, working together as a team - instinctively, intelligently, instantly. You are their leader. They are your weapon.
Players can issue a variety of commands to their three AI-controlled clone trooper squadmates with the press of a button. These include ordering them to search and destroy, take up sniper or anti-armor positions, plant demolition charges, and more. This level of tactical control and coordination is a core part of the gameplay experience.
The clone troopers that make up the player's squad display a high degree of tactical awareness and autonomy. They take cover, flank enemies, revive downed teammates, and engage threats without constant micromanagement. The squadmates also have unique personalities that shine through in their combat dialogue and banter.
Combat requires players to tactically coordinate their squad's abilities to defeat a variety of challenging enemy types, from standard battle droids to powerful super battle droids and crab droids. The difficulty encourages players to fully utilize their squad's capabilities, balancing offensive orders with their own marksmanship and use of cover.
The DC-17m Interchangeable Weapon System allows players to quickly switch between an assault configuration, long-range sniper configuration, and anti-armor configuration. Choosing the right weapon loadout for the situation adds an extra layer of tactical depth to combat encounters.
If the player character is downed, the game continues, allowing them to direct their surviving squadmates to revive them or complete the objective. This creates a sense of stakes and consequence, as the loss of even a single squad member can significantly impact the player's ability to progress.
