YOU are a psychiatrist, trying to solve a murder whilst treating the unusual patients of the recently deceased Doctor Dekker. Type a question - patients reply in full screen video and have questions for you too but be careful what you say. Your words determine their eventual fates, and your own!
Players freely type their own questions and keywords into a text box, triggering full-motion video responses from the various patients. This open-ended conversational approach allows players to explore the patients' stories and uncover clues at their own pace, rather than being constrained by predetermined dialogue options.
The patients engage directly with the player's questions, answering, asking their own questions, providing additional context, or even expressing confusion if the player's inputs don't align with their responses. This creates a dynamic, natural-feeling conversation where the patients feel like living, breathing individuals.
Players have great freedom in how they approach conversations, able to ask follow-up questions, try different phrasings, or experiment with more abstract lines of inquiry. However, the text parser can sometimes struggle to recognize inputs, so an integrated hint system provides just enough guidance to keep players progressing without spoiling the experience.
The identity of the murderer is randomized each playthrough, requiring players to pay close attention to details and clues to determine the culprit. Additionally, the game features multiple possible endings based on the player's choices and conclusions, incentivizing repeat playthroughs to uncover the full scope of the mystery.
