CASE: Animatronics is a truly scary and challenging first-person stealth horror on PC. Control of the police department is in the hands of anonymous hacker. All exits are locked. Electricity is off. Metallic thumps are getting closer. Will you survive, Detective Bishop?
You take on the role of Detective John Bishop, who must navigate the dark, eerie halls of a police station after the power goes out and the security system is hacked. The core gameplay loop revolves around using stealth and evasion to survive. Deadly animatronic robots actively patrol the station, so you must hide in lockers, under desks, and in other dark corners to avoid detection and death. Your limited tools, like a tablet to view security camera feeds and a flashlight with finite battery, require careful use to prevent drawing the animatronics' attention.
Alongside the stealth and evasion, you must explore the police station, searching for keycards, codes, and other items needed to progress and ultimately escape. This demands carefully navigating the environment, listening for audio cues, and piecing together the clues and notes left behind to uncover the mystery of what has happened.
The gameplay consistently delivers an overwhelming sense of tension and unpredictability. The animatronics move and behave in erratic, unpredictable ways, making it difficult to anticipate their movements. Sudden jump scares and close calls with the deadly robots create a constant state of unease and fear, ratcheting up the intensity.
Despite the linear nature of the main narrative, the open-ended, free-roam structure of the police station and the dynamic behavior of the animatronics allow for emergent gameplay experiences. No two playthroughs are exactly the same, and players are encouraged to experiment with different strategies and approaches to survive the night. This, combined with optional challenges like the "Hardcore" mode, add significant replayability to the experience.
