System Crash is a story-driven cyberpunk collectible card game inspired by Blade Runner and Neuromancer. When corporations own everything and the line between man and machine is blurred, your only option is to fight to survive!
Players can construct their own decks from a pool of over 100 unique cards, experimenting with different combinations to create synergistic archetypes. The game avoids randomized booster packs, allowing players to directly purchase new cards using credits earned through gameplay. This "living card game" model ensures players are never forced to grind or spend additional money to stay competitive.
During battles, players take turns deploying Agents – characters with attack and defense stats – to four "lanes" on the combat field. Agents also have unique abilities or keywords that add strategic depth. Players must carefully manage their limited credits and card draws to outmaneuver AI-controlled opponents, each with their own deck strengths and weaknesses.
As players progress through the story campaigns, they continually unlock new cards, encouraging experimentation with fresh deck archetypes. The narrative also branches at key decision points, providing an incentive for multiple playthroughs. Additionally, the "Tournament" mode offers endless replayability through randomized matchups against the AI.
The game features a wide variety of card types, including Agents, Support cards with ongoing effects, and Modifier cards that can boost or hinder Agents. Players can discover powerful combos by assembling synergistic builds, such as aggressive "Runner" decks, defensive "Hacking" decks, or balanced "Hybrid" approaches.
The AI-controlled opponents leverage their own card synergies and abilities, effectively probing the player's weaknesses and testing their deck-building skills. Each encounter features a unique deck, forcing players to adapt their strategies accordingly.
