Players take control of Wei Shen, an undercover police officer infiltrating the Hong Kong Triads. Wei is highly skilled in various martial arts techniques, which make up the majority of the hand-to-hand combat. The combat is fast-paced and responsive, allowing players to chain together light and heavy attacks, grapples, throws, and environmental takedowns with ease. As players progress, they unlock new martial arts moves and combat abilities, expanding their repertoire and making the combat increasingly satisfying and varied.

❤ Driving and Traversal

In addition to the martial arts-focused combat, the game features a robust driving and traversal system. Players can commandeer a wide variety of vehicles, from compact sedans to supercars, each with their own distinct handling characteristics. The driving is arcadey and responsive, enabling players to perform high-speed chases, daring stunts, and intense street races throughout the open world. Complementing the vehicle gameplay is the parkour-influenced traversal, allowing players to climb, vault, and jump across the urban environments of Hong Kong, enabling creative navigation and exploration.

As players progress through the story and side content, they gain experience points that can be spent to unlock new combat abilities, weapon proficiencies, and passive bonuses. This RPG-lite progression system allows players to tailor Wei's skill set to their preferred playstyle. Additionally, players can outfit Wei with a variety of clothing and accessory items, some of which provide gameplay-altering effects, further allowing for personalization and roleplaying.
