DIVE. DISCOVER. DIE. Crew a submarine with friends in We Need To Go Deeper - a 2-4-player cooperative submarine roguelike set in a Verne-inspired undersea universe.
Players crew a submarine, dividing into four critical roles: helmsman, engineer, gunner, and specialist positions. Each crew member manages crucial tasks to survive increasingly challenging underwater environments.
Sailors strategically allocate four limited power points across essential systems: lighting for pitch-black underwater zones, protective shields against hostile creatures, engine speed for quick maneuvering, torpedo and weapon capabilities. Constant communication becomes survival's key, with crew members rapidly switching between hull repairs, power management, navigation, and combat.
Procedurally generated underwater environments called "The Living Infinite" ensure unique experiences. Crews dive through randomized biomes encountering bizarre aquatic creatures like robotic crabs and ghost pirates, treacherous underwater caves, rare equipment and treasure, on-foot expeditions in alien environments, and occasional trading stations with mysterious inhabitants.
Descending depths exponentially increase threats, transforming initial playful exploration into desperate survival. Each death forces a complete restart, challenging players to learn and adapt.
Featuring hand-drawn 2D art mimicking 19th-century illustration, steampunk aesthetic with Victorian-era character designs, narrative inspirations from Jules Verne and H.P. Lovecraft, and extensive character customization options.
Multiple submarine designs with distinct capabilities, procedurally generated environments, extensive cosmetic unlocks, cooperative gameplay emphasizing teamwork, and intelligent bot companions for solo or partial crews.
The most memorable moments emerge from collaborative chaos—unexpected creature encounters, frantic repairs, and hilarious crew interactions define each underwater expedition.
