Change the minds of evildoers…for good! MINDHACK is a text adventure game where you meet unique evildoers, hack their minds, and rewrite them into happy people!
The game casts you as "the Doctor", a genius hacker tasked with destroying the "BUGs" (destructive impulses) within the minds of various evildoers and reforming them into benign citizens.
During the adventure portion, you'll interact with a diverse cast of unique and tricky characters in a dystopian world. Vibrant animations of your character's hands display on the screen as you converse with them.
The core gameplay loop involves "hacking" into the evildoers' minds. By typing out code, you'll unlock their memories and explore their pasts. After understanding who they truly are, you must then type out keywords connected to their souls to rewrite their minds and transform them from heinous criminals into harmless, happy people.
The mind rewriting process manifests through a typing minigame. You must quickly and accurately type the appropriate keywords to successfully reform the evildoers. The better your typing performance, the more thoroughly you'll rewrite their personalities.
While the early access version is relatively linear, the developers have hinted at the introduction of more branching storylines and meaningful choices in future updates. Some reviewers noted the current lack of significant choices and consequences is intentional, as it ties into the game's themes of control and your limited agency as the protagonist.
Several reviewers mentioned replaying chapters can unlock additional information about the characters' backstories, providing more context and depth to their motivations and actions. This encourages revisiting earlier content to uncover new details.
