Siege of Avalon is an isometric story-driven fantasy-RPG. The Citadel of Avalon is all that remains of the once-mighty seven kingdoms. The invaders have surrounded Avalon and the depleted garrison is bracing for the final assault. Now is the time for the birth of a legend.
Players earn training points by defeating enemies and completing quests, allowing them to learn skills across three distinct character classes: Fighter, Scout, and Mage. Each class offers specialized expansion chapters and unique progression paths. For example, fighters can become incredibly resilient, mages unlock increasingly powerful spells, and scouts develop intricate stealth abilities.
The equipment system revolutionizes character appearance and strategy. Players can layer up to 11 equipment slots, with each piece visibly rendering on the character. Imagine wearing a quilted undergarment beneath chainmail, then covering it with a cuirass, or hiding your entire outfit under a monk's robe. No modern RPG has replicated this nuanced clothing mechanics.
Combat transforms spacebar activation into tactical engagement. Magical enemies can obliterate unprepared players in one or two hits, particularly in early chapters. Players strategically build characters to survive - mages learning healing spells, warriors developing heavy armor techniques, scouts mastering ranged and stealth attacks.
Within the besieged Citadel, players meticulously explore every room and corridor. Quests demand careful attention, with high perception potentially unlocking hidden dialogue options. Some NPCs change conversational scripts based on player achievements, creating a dynamically responsive world.
Up to four allies can join the player's quest. Though companion AI occasionally makes questionable tactical decisions, they provide critical support during challenging encounters. Each companion brings unique combat capabilities and background storytelling.
Dialogue rivals novel-level depth, with nearly every character offering unique narrative perspectives. Extensive in-game books and scrolls reveal complex world-building, making exploration as much about narrative discovery as combat progression.
The Steam release modernizes the experience with: 1920x1080 widescreen support, seamless modern OS compatibility, community-developed optimization patches, and enhanced user interface.
Players who relish narrative-rich RPG experiences, complex character development, strategically demanding gameplay, immersive world-building, and classic computer RPG mechanics.
