Become a customizable giant monster with manifold skills in Gigapocalypse, inspired by classical Kaijū movies such as “Godzilla” and “King Kong” and the game classic “Rampage”.
Players can choose from nine unique "Gigas" - giant monster characters inspired by classic kaiju films. Each Giga has distinct abilities, attacks, and skill trees that players can unlock and upgrade. This allows players to find a Giga that suits their preferred playstyle, whether that's a fire-breathing dinosaur, a space-faring beast, or a Lovecraftian horror.
The core gameplay involves the player's Giga automatically scrolling from left to right through various levels, with the objective of destroying everything in their path. Players can utilize a variety of attacks and abilities to lay waste to the environments, including basic attacks, special abilities on cooldowns, and unlockable mutations. This creates a fast-paced, arcade-style experience where players are constantly engaged in blasting, stomping, and obliterating their surroundings.
As players progress through the levels and complete objectives, they earn experience points to level up their Giga, unlocking new abilities and enhancing existing ones. Additionally, players can collect "mutation points" by destroying the environment, which can then be spent on a variety of upgrades, including visual customizations, passive bonuses, and the ability to adopt helpful pet companions. This layered progression system encourages players to replay levels and experiment with different Giga builds.
At the end of each level, players must confront a unique boss encounter, which often introduce novel mechanics and gameplay challenges. These boss fights require players to adapt their strategies and effectively utilize their Giga's abilities, adding an extra layer of complexity and variety to the otherwise straightforward destruction-focused gameplay.
In between levels, players can engage in Tamagotchi-like mini-games to care for their Giga, such as feeding it, cleaning up its messes, and playing with it. While not directly tied to the core gameplay, these interactions allow players to further bond with their chosen Giga and provide additional sources of mutation points to aid in progression.
