You are Karen - Argue your way through ridiculous scenarios, and get everything you rightfully deserve in this short comedic game about entitlement.
You take on the role of the stereotypical "Karen" - a demanding, entitled customer who goes to great lengths to get her way. The gameplay revolves around navigating various scenarios in different retail and service settings, such as a coffee shop, a department store, and a hair salon. You must carefully select dialogue options that allow you to gradually wear down the resolve of the employees you interact with.
The core gameplay loop involves selecting dialogue options that either appeal to the employee's emotions, demand to speak to a manager, or provoke a reaction that lowers their "Confidence", "Patience", or "Guilt" meters. For example, you might choose to sweetly ask for a refund, then escalate to angrily requesting a manager if the initial request is denied. The well-written dialogue authentically captures the entitled and confrontational nature of a stereotypical "Karen".
The game offers two difficulty modes - "Normal" and "Karen" - that adjust the challenge level. On Normal, you must rely more on intuition to figure out which dialogue choices will be effective, while Karen mode provides more direct feedback on how each option affects the employee's stats. Despite the short overall length of around 30 minutes, the game encourages replayability as you experiment with different approaches to achieve the desired outcome or go for the more entertaining "meltdown" ending.
The visuals use a retro-inspired pixel art style that exaggerates the characters' features to heighten the comedic effect. The music is also surprisingly well-crafted, with catchy tunes that heighten the drama of each scenario. The presentation helps you fully immerse yourself in the role of the entitled Karen and the increasingly absurd situations she finds herself in.
