Patch Quest

by Lychee Game Labs, Curve Games

The Developer Says...

In a labyrinth surrounded by vicious monsters, Explorers must rely on their Lasso to survive! Capture and tame ANY monster to leap, glide, surf, tunnel and websling through a treacherous, patchwork maze. This roguelike/metroidvania seems cute, but it’s a deceptively difficult bullet-hell challenge!

❤ Capture and Tame Monsters

At the heart of the experience, you'll use a Lasso tool to subdue any creature you encounter. Once captured, you can mount these diverse monsters, each with their own unique skills. For example, you might ride a flying creature that can soar over hazards, or a burrowing beast that tunnels through the earth. Tactfully switching between your stable of up to 5 tamed mounts is key to navigating the labyrinth.

❤ Upgrade Your Base and Monsters

As you explore, you'll collect plants, minerals, and "Patch Pins" to permanently expand your home base. This allows you to strengthen your mounts - you can level them up individually, boosting their stats and unlocking more powerful abilities. The base's upgrades also provide passive benefits, like increasing the duration you can ride a mount before it tires out.

❤ Procedurally-Generated Challenges

The island's layout, enemy placements, and environmental hazards shuffle with each expedition, ensuring a fresh experience every run. You'll encounter a day/night cycle that dramatically alters the terrain, forcing you to adapt on the fly. Combat becomes a true test of skill, as you dodge waves of enemy projectiles while strategically unleashing your mount's unique firepower.

❤ Metroidvania-Inspired Progression

Progressing deeper into the island unlocks new areas, boss encounters, and traversal options. Defeating challenges and uncovering shortcuts lets you reach further segments faster on future runs. This creates a rewarding sense of gradual map expansion and exploration, reminiscent of classic metroidvania design.

❤ Tight, Responsive Controls

Controlling your character and mounts feels consistently smooth and responsive, whether using a gamepad or keyboard/mouse. This precision is crucial for navigating the game's intense, bullet hell-inspired combat encounters.
