Peglin is a Pachinko Roguelike - Fight enemies by collecting special orbs and popping pegs to deal damage. Acquire special relics that radically change the game and ensure no two runs are the same. Aim carefully to survive in this unique turn-based RPG!
The core gameplay revolves around firing balls onto a playing field filled with pegs. Your objective is to hit as many pegs as possible, as the more pegs a ball hits, the more powerful the resulting attack against the enemies at the top of the screen becomes. This pachinko-style ball-bouncing mechanic forms the heart of the moment-to-moment gameplay loop.
In between these pachinko battles, you navigate a branching map, choosing paths that can lead to battles, stores to purchase new ball types called "orbs", and equippable relics, or randomized events. As you progress, you can build a deck of powerful orbs and relics that dramatically impact your ball-bouncing abilities and strategies. For example, some orbs have special effects like magnetizing the ball to seek out specific pegs, or launching boulders that smash through enemy lines.
The randomization of map layouts, enemy encounters, orb and relic selections, and the synergies between them, creates a high degree of variety and replayability. No two runs will be exactly the same, encouraging you to experiment with different orb and relic combinations to discover powerful combos. This is further reinforced by the "Cruciball" difficulty scaling system, which provides increasingly challenging levels to test your mastery of the pachinko mechanics and deck-building strategies.
Despite its roguelike nature, the simple, charming pixel art style and upbeat music give the experience a casual, relaxing atmosphere. Many players enjoy the bite-sized, pick-up-and-play nature of the game, often playing while multitasking or consuming other media.
