How does Chess Sudoku work? Well we’ve taken the classic sudoku game everyone knows and loves and created puzzles with chess-related twists! There are three different types of puzzles in the game: Knight Sudoku; King Sudoku and Queen Sudoku.
The game offers three distinct puzzle variants that build upon classic Sudoku. In Knight Sudoku, players must ensure that no digit appears a chess knight's move away from itself, in addition to the standard Sudoku rules. King Sudoku introduces the constraint that no digit can be a single diagonal move away, while Queen Sudoku requires that every 9 in the grid not be in the same row, column, 3x3 box, or diagonal as any other 9.
Players praise the game's intuitive interface, which allows them to customize the experience to their preferences. They can enable or disable various assistance tools, such as automatic pencil mark removal and cell highlighting, to tailor the difficulty level to their skill. The seamless integration of these features helps players focus on the logic of the puzzles.
Unlike algorithmically generated puzzles, the developers have meticulously crafted each puzzle, ensuring a high level of quality and logical consistency. Players find the puzzles to be both challenging and satisfying to solve, with a substantial amount of content and ongoing free updates to maintain replayability.
The game's hint system, designed by the Cracking the Cryptic hosts Simon Anthony and Mark Goodliffe, is particularly appreciated by players. These hints provide guidance and insights that can help players improve their Sudoku skills, rather than simply offering solutions.
The integration of chess-themed rules introduces an additional layer of logic and problem-solving that elevates the gameplay. Players report that these new constraints, such as the knight's move restriction or the diagonal constraints, lead to a more rewarding and intellectually stimulating experience.
