❤ Seizing Control of Robots in Combat and Puzzles

At the core of the gameplay is the ability to temporarily seize control of any enemy robot, except for bosses. This "puppeteer" mechanic opens up a variety of strategic options. In combat, players can take control of stronger enemy robots to unleash powerful attacks on other foes. However, this comes with the risk that if the controlled robot takes damage, the player character will also suffer. This risk-reward dynamic adds an engaging layer of strategy, as players must decide whether to fight enemies directly or control a more powerful robot to do their bidding. The robot control mechanic is also essential for puzzle-solving. Many puzzles requireusing a specific enemy robot's unique abilities, such as a small robot that can fit through tight spaces. Players have to carefully navigate the environment, identify the right robot for the job, and coordinate controlling two entities at once to progress.

❤ Exploring an Interconnected World

The game world is designed in a Metroidvania-style, with an interconnected map that encourages thorough exploration. As players acquire new abilities, such as a jetpack, they can access previously inaccessible areas and uncover new upgrades, abilities, and story elements. Progression is tied to collecting "cores" that can be used to purchase permanent upgrades for the player character, including increased health, new attacks, and expanded robot control abilities. This incentivizes players to thoroughly search each area, as these upgrades provide meaningful gameplay enhancements.

❤ Balancing Challenge and Intuitiveness in Puzzles

In addition to combat encounters, the game features a variety of environmental puzzles that players must solve. These puzzles often revolve around the robot control mechanic, requiring precise maneuvering and coordination between the player character and a controlled robot. The puzzles strike a careful balance between challenge and intuitiveness. While not overly difficult, they still require players to think strategically about how to leverage the game's mechanics. Solving these puzzles provides a satisfying sense of accomplishment as players progress through the game's interconnected world.

❤ Responsive Twin-Stick Controls

Movement and traversal is handled through a twin-stick control scheme, with one stick controlling the protagonist robot and the other controlling any robots the player has taken over. This control scheme takes some getting used to, but allows for precise maneuvering and coordination between the two entities. The platforming and traversal challenges can be demanding at times, as players have to navigate complex environments and time their movements carefully. However, the controls feel responsive, and the inclusion of abilities like a jetpack help to alleviate some of the more frustrating traversal sections.
