Adore is an action creature-collecting game where you build your team of unique creatures and go on a journey to resurrect the God of the Creatures.
You directly control a main character, Lukha, who can summon and command a team of up to 4 unique creatures to fight by his side in real-time action combat. This results in a dynamic, fast-paced system where you must strategically summon, position, and recall your creatures to defeat enemies. The traditional turn-based creature combat is replaced with a hands-on approach that blends creature-collecting with action gameplay.
The core gameplay loop revolves around capturing and utilizing creatures. First, you must weaken creatures by attacking them, then stand near them for a duration to tame them and add them to your party. Each captured creature has its own set of attacks, abilities, and synergies that you must learn to effectively wield. Managing the stamina used to summon creatures, as well as their individual health bars, is crucial to success, as losing a creature will damage your own health. This adds an element of risk-reward as you must decide when to summon, attack, and recall your creatures.
A key part of the gameplay is building effective creature party compositions through the Synergy system. Certain creature types and abilities work better together, granting additional effects when used in concert. This encourages you to experiment with different creature combinations to find powerful synergies. Additionally, you can further customize your creatures through the Trait and Special Ability systems, which provide passive bonuses and unique active abilities to tailor the playstyle.
The game has a roguelite structure, where each run through the procedurally-generated dungeons is a new challenge. You must carefully manage your resources, progress your creatures, and make strategic decisions to overcome increasingly difficult enemies and bosses. Dying results in starting over, but you can unlock permanent upgrades and new creatures to make subsequent runs more viable.
